The Sewing Machine Project is preparing to send 16 machines to Skenderaj, Kosovo! Al Anding, a resident of Monona, has been working closely with people in Kosovo, helping to create more jobs and even helping farmers get the livestock and equipment they need. Overall he has been helping wherever possible to improve the lives of people in Kosovo, as they rebuild their war-torn country. Mr. Anding contacted me recently about the possibility of sending sewing machines over as tools for sewing children’s school uniforms and as a vehicle for job creation. I contacted Bernina and they have kindly donated 16 gently used Bernette machines. We are now working out the logistics of shipping, placement and security. Gani Ahmetaj, a Kosovo native who now lives in Monona, is helping us with contacts on that end. Mr. Ahmetaj says that there will probably be over 3000 applications submitted to work on these 16 machines.

The Sewing Machine Project is honored to be able to help in this positive effort.
