Volunteers came together this past Saturday to work on the machines that have been donated. Wow, did we have machines!! Our amazing volunteers helped organize, check, and inventory machines all day long.
At the same time, in the same church, our local American Sewing Guild (ASG) chapter held a fabric sale with all of the proceeds going to The Sewing Machine Project. Volunteers from both efforts worked together to make the entire day a success.
I am so incredibly grateful to everyone who gave a part of their day to help out and to support the SMP. It really is fun and we got so much done!
Sounds and looks like so much fun! You’re awesome motivating people to work with you!
This is a wonderful project you have going!! I saw the sewing clothes for children in Ghana, last year and started sewing little girl’s dresses. My 13 year old granddaughter was interested and spent several days visiting and made a dress, loved the idea. I have 5 sons and one daughter, so I have started sewing little boys pants. I did a presentation at a women’s church retreat, in
June and have several of them sewing. My beauticians presented what I had told them, along with little dresses, their made 50 dresses last summer. My local fabric shop donated pillow cases to me for the project. They also display the copies I made of the Sewing With Nancy information on the dresses. A local lady gave me large bags of her children’s outgrown clothing, but it was too much for me to mail, I sent it to my daughter who works with family resource and was able to supply three families with that, so a good deed with that. And, my granddaughter is teaching others to sew the dresses also. It has been a very good experience, we have been able to help local families who are in need now. Thank You, Audrey

How and where do I donate my old sewing machine as I no longer use it and is just sitting in the cupboard?
Hi Peggy,
Thank you so much! If your machine is fully functional (all stitches and functions work) and portable we would love your donation. Here is the link from our site with more information. Thank you for your kindness.

Do the machines have to work?
Hi Lyn,
Yes, we do ask that machines are in excellent working order when donated. Thank you for your kindness!
Hi Lyn, Yes, they do!
