Celebrating 20 years in 2025!

Midwest Flooding Victims Need Machines Too!

The flooding of the past few months has hit the Midwest awfully hard. Everyone is feeling it. The Sewing Machine Project will do a collection specifically targeted to people who lost their machines in the flooding. We will be setting up a collection in the near future. Please check the website

  1. Dear Margaret & Friends,
Just back to Madison after 5 months w/ family-2 deaths (One, my Mom-who taught me to sew @ 7 on a 1950’s gray Kenmore & went on to instruct 8 girls in my ’70’s 4-H club in Elmira, NY) and my aunt.(a non-sewer).
I brought back my Mom’s 15-20 yr. old Pfaff for myself–or swap for my newer one w/ my son’s Dad!
I’d purchased a Hans(brand??) machine in ’99, right before my husband filed for divorce–he took it in splitting goods claiming, “You can use your old machine”
ANYHOW-could your project use a good, solid, 55 yr. old straight stitch Kenmore in a cabinet w/ knee controll!!–doesn’t sound like it according to your site. My dear friend, Sandy W., @ church, sent me your website–WOW–so true, help one woman get back her livlihood or family needs met & it truly stitches back the community!
I, too, sew to relax & be creative–now, repairing jeans for a 12 yr. old son! Grew 3 in. in last school yr!
Glad to hear you’ve gathered so much support!! Wish I had funds to help donate, but, instead do so thru my Presbyterian church’s Nat’l/Int’l outreach missions.
    Enjoy July!
Thank you–Barb D. on the Westside
